Sorry.
Car = Mazda Etude 2004 model
Driver = 24 yrs
Hollard's excess payment is very high, killa !

I probably have the same car (Mazda Etude 2004 160iE) and I pay R510 at MiWay all inclusive. I'm 32 years old.
I'm going to get the car insured with my house once I move in to lower the premiums.

Looks like 24 year old women drivers are considered high risk.

Try Glenrand M.I.B., a lot of brokers have schemes with the insurance companies. These schemes enable them to write up business (underwrite the policies) and they also attend to the actual claims on behalf of these insurance companies. My policy is with Santam but through Glenrand, had I gone with another independent smaller broker or with a broker that had no scheme in place I would be paying in the R 1.5 or R2K bracket.

Polo '06,
Household contents,
A/Risks for various items i.e. cell phones, laptops, etc

Monthly premium = R 850 or thereabouts, well again I'm in Durban, male and over thirty.

Gotta love insurance companies. We cancelled with one and went to another one and now they are running around, calling us and offering revised deals and lower premiums!

When will these people learn that you should treat your clients well and offer them the best deal WHILE YOU HAVE THEM and not wait till they wanna leave you??
The country is full to the brim of bad service and bad deals. You'll also probably find them fighting tooth and nail not to have to pay out when you need it. It's just a case of finding the best of a bad bunch.

It seems a lot to me. I only pay 1/2 that. Mind you, I haven't ever had an accident. (TW)

I was paying almost R900 with outsurance last year for my Peugeot 207 1.4 X-Line(2007).
While I was surfing around I saw hippo.co.za and worked out the quote online.
Hippo suggested that my premium will be R490 or something when I sign with hippo.

Then I called Outsurance and told them i would like to cancel my policy because I found cheaper one.
After he dicussed with his manager, saying "I've managed to give you a discount. Your Premium will be R780".
And he did not forget to criticise hippo about their service level.
I was still not impressed, because Outsurance was still expensive than hippo.
So I told him that I would think about and let him know later if I want to cancel or remain with them.
Shortly after an hour or so, I've got a SMS, saying "You have a further discount, and your premium will be R680."
This is what I pay with Outsurance now.

Honestly, don't understand why they don't give discount their customers before they are "threatened". :)
I will have to do this once a year to keep my premium low.

And guys, please don't consider Dial Direct, because they give you a reasonably cheap premium on the first year and then increases a lot in the 2nd year.
I was paying R650 (excess R2400) for the first year, and then they noticed me that they will increase to R780 (excess R7500).
Crazy people... :)

I am with MUA and got a sweet deal through my broker. My premiums went up a bit after a claim but now I still only pay R650 for my 2007 Golf 5 TDI DSG and R120 odd for my tracker. Phone them for a quote.

Lowest I could get is R2200 with a tracker installed from PPS. The car has a bit of power, and was WAY over-valued. 24 year old male :\

Edit: Outsurance quoted me R5.7k

Female is lower risk for one, how long you had your driver license is another, the number of accidents you where in, the area you stay in, whether your car is parked in a closed of area...and so it goes on..
