Vehicle Service Question

Is your car due for service anytime soon? They will check the box in your service book for brake pads only if it was part of the regular scheduled service. If your brake pads aren’t replaced during service, the box should not be ticked. Just keep a record of your invoices for any work done if you want proof later on for work done.

It shows 5000km until brake pads replace on the onboard comp hence why i want to get ahead of it and do it in the coming week
 
And my OBD shows something like 15%(could be wrong, cant remember) remaining on fromt breaks.

My vehicle get used to drop my daughter at school and then again to collect about 3 times every other week or so, so cant remember when last it went for service, know it was last year 2nd half.

You should still service it regularly.

You can depress the piston in a few ways. The other tools required is like 1 spanner and your wheel spanner.

Some require specialised tools like multi-piston calipers and rear calipers with auto-adjusting mechanisms that require the piston to be rotated in order to be depressed. That said, those tools are cheap and I bought them so that I can do my own work.

you can turn and depress those with a pliers in a jam

I know. I did that the first time and then bought the tool the next time. Never want to hassle like that again if a R300 tool can help it.

Friend of mine owns a garage and when people ask him if they can supply parts he says to them "But a chicken and ask KFC to cook it for you"

I walk away from jobs when clients wants to supply parts.

Ill have a look, but since my wife sold her car recently, she will be using mine more often so might as well just get it serviced and brakes done all in one go.

Since i didnt drive all that much, i was out of touch with the whole service thing regarding either km or year.
 
There are dealerships that will do this, my brother has done it a few times at Hatfield VW Bryanston but a good friend was working there at the time and my brothers car was long out of warranty or maintenance plan. Depending on the car, you can do it yourself for far cheaper if you have some basic tools and know how.

Maybe find a reputable German car mechanic in your area. I know one in Germiston but that is kinda out of your way.
