We at the coast for long weekend, plugged hd per 2 decoder, but we can only receive signal 98% and quality 49% on vertical, horizontal we receive nothing at all, 0on signal and 0 on quality?

We have rotated dish, tried turning LNb but can never get higher than 49% quality?
We tried replacing LNb but then get nothing at all?

Any ideas?

Phone multichoice to send out a rep man, and to do some diagnostics checks

We about 120km from civilization so that's an issue.

Think we need to replace the dish?

Best thing would be to send the Dish and decoder in... What if the problem persists even when dish is replaced?

Because you rotated the dish, your alignment is out for sure... and something is probably faulty, which is why it wasn't working in the first place. First thing, dish must be properly aligned. This will be difficult, because you don't know what else is wrong and you don't have an instrument. Once it's aligned, you will need to check the LNB and cable. I think you need professional help here.

We have signal now , we are watching the rugby. But no horizontal, we also have spare dish that we thinking, being in so isolated a spot it's difficult to get someone here, a pro.

Well done. Dish is not the problem...

I assume dish is fine as signal strength in 98%, a cow or something must of brushed up against the arm as it used to work fine a couple months back.

I suspect voltage drop over the cable is preventing the LNB from switching to H. Could be oxidation at the connectors. Try cutting some cable off and redo the connections.

We unpacked a brand new cable and have redone f connectors about 4 times each side

When we have 98% strength and it sits on 49% quality, if we rotate just LNb we never get higher than 49% either 49% or everything disappears

Just single cable into sat 1 on decoder, single lnb. LNb has long stem, we tried a brand new fatter LNb and got nothing

Even tried a fat LNb, I used to use in east London for my setup that's left at the coast as extra spare, it was marked witH permanent marker and everything, no signal nothing!

No worries, thanks for the help, enjoy your long weekend, at least we can watch the rugby

Tried 2 decodes and same thing, tried mine hd and tried my parents sd. I thin its the LNb, only problem is our spare dish is slightly smaller than the current one, current dish is large.

Single cable on a PVR? No wonder you're only getting vertical. If you pop it into the other port you;ll only get horizontal.
Am I missing something here?
