Refer to the image above

About two weeks ago our DSTV decoder (I have the 1110 decoder) started doing this. I verified by using other input sources, that it is not the TV with the problem. The setup is about 5-6 years old (the decoder is newer) and I've never had this problem before. My signal quality is pretty much 100%.

Sometimes the quality goes from normal to something of the above (horizontal lines moving across the screen), either not too bad, or up to as bad as the image above.

If I change channels, some channels have been either fine, better, or worse than other channels.

Later in the day the image quality returns to normal.

Any ideas as to what may be the cause of the problem?

Edit: When the above happens, the decoder menu/etc is also affected, so it's got nothing to do with the decoder signal input.

Are you using the normal arial lead for tv input or something else?

Looks like interference or a bad modulator.

The DSTV -> TV input is an RCA cable. The decoder doesn't have HDMI.

Had some help on TheHubSA and from what I can gather it looks like the output on the decoder is starting to go.

That's the power supply which is about to go, you will probably get an 8118 error soon. Wait for this to happen, some branches swap it out for free.

Can you afford to buy another decoder? Your current decoder is no longer supported by Multichoice, it will only get worse.
