Hi have XP running in a Virtualbox on my Mac.

I will not be going the Bootcamp rout and installing windows so I want to get the game running in the Virtualbox, preformance may be sheet etc. but whatever, I wanna see if I can do this... so far I cannot.

I constantly get the: "FAILED TO CREATE DXT TEXTURE" message... it is possible that this is unrelated to the virtualisation.

Any ideas?

What is the graphics requirement for Mirror's Edge?

Keep in mind that 3D graphics are not fully supported yet.

3d graphics is not going to work well in a virtual environment, a game like this needs a dedicated native graphics card not virtual.

Virtualbox is basically IGP - I have a feeling you may be out of luck. That's what you get for supporting OSX :p

Srsly can't you set XP up in bootcamp rather?

hmmm... not for a game that I just want to check out for an hour or two and will never finish between dog walking; homework helping and wife listening... to... type stuff.

Also my poor Macbook is running very short of drive space and partitioning what I have will... well actually I don't have enough to even consider it ;)

No can do.

Bummer - knew it was a long shot.

if it's any consolation mirror's edge is basically a tech demo with pretty graphics.

Get an external drive for Bootcamp/windows. you can build a decent external drive by getting a inexpensive enclosure for R300 and decent sized hard drive for R500.

It isn't - that is pretty much what I wanted to check out... doubt it would have impressed much though had I got it working. :o

What games are there for the Mac?

There are a few - I think COD4 is a firm favourite amongst Mac gamers.

You know... for some reason I held the belief that it would need to be on the master drive for boot record reasons... I have several external drives, I should probably do this.

Thanks!

I would never ever run a game in a VM enviroment, it's more than obvious it won't work.

I will try and run a old game like Dune 2 or something. :)

I'm not 100% sure whether it will work, maybe 7 will do it. I'm very much use to a mac being able to do it.
