Hi Cell C,

I posted in the "speed test" thread, but it appears to have gone unnoticed. Should I expect full LTE speed during peak hours or is a download speed of +-170KB/s around 20:00 normal on your network? Quite shocking considering that I'm used to two to three MB/s most other times.

Regards

I am also experiencing very low speeds. I am in the cape town area

Have you tried rebooting the device several times until you're assigned the correct IP range that isn't capped. Example 197 is the worst IP for me to download. 10 is fantastic

Speeds seems better this morning. Problem is the more you tell technical support nothing changed on your side and that multiple devices (router and phone) has low download speeds the more they make you feel it's on your side.

Even though my phone and other devices say I'm getting 4/5 bars for LTE (at times), yesterday I was experiencing 1KB/s on LTE. Yes, 1KB/s. Forcing the device to use 3G was better at around 4-6Mb/s.

ATM speeds are absolutely atrocious. And no, I don't want to go through the same cycle of technicians contacting me. Because I already know the answer from last time: It's not you, it's me.

EDIT:

I am trying to load the CellC home page. I requested the page 3 minutes ago, so far 92 requests have been made (wtf), only 744 kilobytes downloaded, and still no home page showing. Scripts are timing out, nothing works. I can't use Internet Banking, because it won't load.

2 devices 1 location and speed that are worlds apart. LTE router vs LTE phone. now they say I need to take the router in for a software update, really!

Cell C, thanks for the call back, just spoke to someone on your Network team and they are investigating.

I hate being a doom prophet, but don't hold your breath. I had them do the same for me in the Pomona area. Their response? "Yes sir. The 3G network is congested. And the LTE coverage is weak. We need to put up another tower."

Any takers on guessing when that'll happen?

Then, to add insult to injury, they pretty much told me I'm not an important enough client for them to furnish me with a repeater at home to boost the poor LTE signal I get from time to time. Being a person that works from home simply isn't good enough. Really, CellC? Maybe if the reception was BETTER, I'd end up spending MORE with you guys.

I hope you have better luck Beldrac13

Cell c is really dropping the ball with regards to LTE network quality. I am getting less then 5mbps download speed in lte and less then 10mbps down on lte-a and I am in the coverage area.
