Yes. But I doubt you're not going to find such a converter. Does the tv not have a vga input? It's not that much more difficult to plug in one extra cable...

It's not a simple solution. No adapter or anything. You will need to get a set-top box. Which will be pricey

If your tv has hdmi, it should have a VGA or DVI port somewhere...

If he only has VGA out, then having a DVI port on the TV wouldn't help to make things simpler. In that case, he might as well use HDMI

You could get another gfx card, something with an HDMi output (and contains audio), like an ati HD4850??

Laptop.....
For a pc it's still fine but it's an expensive option.

S-video does NOT carry audio

S-video carries video as two separate signals, luminance and chroma which can give a superior picture than a composite video connection.

As sn3rd said, It does not carry audio.

Does anyone know where I can get a converter that'll take VGA and a 3.5mm audio jack as input and HDMI coming out the other side?

My family has just got a 32" Samsung with HDMI input, and I'd like to create a simpler solution for watching movies from a laptop/pc.
