VGA-VGA vs DVI-HDMI

I'm currently hooked up to my LCD TV through a VGA to VGA cable. How much difference would I notice with a HDMI to HDMI cable. When I go closer than say a meter to the TV with the VGA cable at the moment I can notice a slight double/triple image. Will a HDMI to HDMI cable rectify this?

I have a HD4870 with 2 DVI outputs and a S-video output. The card came with a DVI to VGA adapter which I'm using at the moment. It also came with a DVI to HDMI adapter. So I have 2 options if I want to change the connection.

1. Get a DVI to HDMI cable.
2. Get a HDMI to HDMI cable and use the adapter.

The TV has 2 HDMI inputs and a VGA input and I'm using it as my only screen.

Sounds like a slow refresh rate?

DVI/HDMI (digital) definitely has a small improvement over VGA (analogue). ;)
 
I'd use the DVI-HDMI adapter and get an HDMI cable to connect to the LCD - quality will be much better and you shouldn't get any ghosting or delay.
What distance is the TV from the PC? Mine is about 1.5m-2m and I don't have any issues with ghosting.

Maybe static? or an unshielded cable?
 
Sounds like an analogue problem. I had the same sort of problem connecting my monitor to my PC with VGA, DVI solved it.

On a related note, can I get an adaptor to convert DVI to HDMI and inject the audio into the HDMI at the PC; that way I can run a standard 10m HDMI cable from the PC to the TV. Or do I need to run the audio separately?

Can anyone recommend a supplier?
 
As far as I know there is no such adaptor (except if you use an amplifier to combine the HDMI Video and PC Audio and from the amp to the TV).

But I am no audiophile...
 
The PC is less than a meter away from the TV and I use a 2m VGA to VGA cable. It's a 5ms response TV, the LA32S8. It could be some kind of interference because I do stay on the top floor of my complex so there's a whole load of aerials and satellite dishes a few meters above my TV. I'll try a HDMI to HDMI cable soon. So the shorter the cable the better?

Also I went looking around for HDMI cables last week. Incredible Connection has a few HDMI cables. There's one for connecting a DVD player to the TV for about R350. Then there's one for connecting a PS3 to the TV for about R250, and there's also another one for connecting an Xbox to the TV for R200. Aren't these cables all the same so why the different prices? They're all 2m HDMI to HDMI cables.
 
The shorter the better, imho.
I have a 2m cable and the PC is about 1.5m away from the LCD (with a wall between them).
I used an Ellies HDMI-HDMI cable and DVI-HDMI adapter - I think it was about R179 from Builders Express of all places. I bought a more expensive one from an audio/video shop, and I honestly can't see any difference between them - the picture and sound look/sound identical.

Can anyone confirm if there is any "plus" going with a cable that costs twice the amount?
