There have been alot of demate aroubnd this, now i want to ask of anyone who knows, is video calls included on your free minutes or not?

Good question. Last I heard/used it was not included ... you get billed separately for it, as it is more than just a normal voice call. Maybe they should deduct it from our data bundles ... now there's a plan

AFAIK, a Video Call gets charge as a normal Voice Call. I have no idea how, and how the Data Transfer costs are calculated.

So logically thinking, seeign as though Video Calling falls in line with Voice Calling, one should expect Free Minutes to apply, not so?

On MTN the charge is something like R2.00/pm...which is more than the normal contract rate, so I don't think its included.

When video calling was first released on Vodacom I think it was included, it was the same cost then.

I think they are definately billed seperately. I know on my package I have like 75 free video minutes versus the couple of hundred normal minutes free per month.

I have yet to figure out a decent use for the video calling - it is fun as a gimic, but no where near hi-res enough to show people things (like building sites etc)

These are the charges on my Talk 500s:

Video Calls
Video Call Vodacom to MTN (Off-Peak) 1.85
Video Call Vodacom to MTN (Peak) 1.85
Video Call Vodacom to Vodacom (Off-Peak) 0.90
Video Call Vodacom to Vodacom (Peak) 1.43

those rates are the same as the OOB voice calls though, but AFAIK they are billed from the word go as OOB, ie don't come off the free minutes

That sux, since it costs the same as voice calls, you should expect it to be available on free minutes too
