Good day,

I was wondering if there is some one that might be of some help, I want to access my shops cameras from home via wireless network can any one give me some advise on setup that might be required.

Aditional info: about 3km from the shop, the camera system im using is a wizard system with an 8 channel DVR

Thanks

Do you have LOS (Line of Sight) to your office? - If you were to stand on the roof of your home, could you see the roof of your shop, with nothing in the way - including trees, buildings etc?

If so, then you have a good chance of doing it pretty easily! Have a search through the Wifi and Wisp forum, for similiar questions / projects, and you should get a good idea of what may be required - equipment / software / costs etc.

LOS isnt very good, but for the equipment there is various products available but i would like the input from a WUG user or so seeing that you deel with a lot of equipment on low budgets.

with only 3km's between the 2, is complete LOS that important? Reason i ask is i was once connected (moved to a closer hs now) to a hs 8km's away, hs had a 8dbi omni, going through a cemetry, over a lake, quiet a few other trees and still got an alright connection (2.5mbps). signal was -81 with noise floor @ 96 and a snr of 15

surely streaming of surveilance doesnt require more than that.

well kind of budget are you looking at all together. gives us a rough idea of what to recommend.

Well, do the recommendation that you think of wich equipment would work best.See the DVR has got a lan port. Its just the equipment that i need to get under the belt.

well a 5.8ghz cpe would be very nice but i think they roughly R1500 each so it'll be 3k total.

Use the AODV protocol which Linksys WRT54g don't implement.
If you don't have LOS build yourself a http://www.locustworld.com repeater node.
Detailed documentation on doing this is provided here:
