Couldn't find one so decided to create one.

Got my grandads record player up and running and loving it.

On a Led Zeppelin phase now. I have I, II and III original vinyls and now looking for their 4th album(IV, Untitled, Symbols, ZoSo, whatever you wanna call it), anyone got one laying around, I shall pay if it's in good knick. Not a collector so don't care about the cover if record is good.

There was a thread here somewhere. Lemme find it.

There's a shop in Linden that may have it.

It's really difficult/impossible to find cos it has Stairway to Heaven on it. I try that shop every week. Is why I'm going to the source, with all the music lovers on here I'm hoping someone has a box of old records they're not using.

Just order it online.
Far easier to Buy vinyl online from the Uk or US.

Just make sure they package it correctly to avoid head damage or general warping.

Musica, Kalahari and TakeAlot have all jumped on the vinyl bandwagon as well.

edit: musica is a bit pricey and Kalahari/TakeAlot will import it for you.

I'll keep my eyes open for it but I doubt you're gonna come right too easily on that request.

I managed to get an original first album and I'm in this for the long haul. So I have my hopes! Also available overseas fairly easily but trying to get a record past SARS and SAPO will probably result in an arrest;)

Thanks for the eyes tho!

Have you checked on bidorbuy? http://www.bidorbuy.co.za/item/167439499/LED_ZEPPELIN_FOUR_UK_VG_VG_GATEFOLD_WITH_INNER.html

Also there are quite a few antique dealers in Pta who sells old LP's.

Yes and yes, bid or buy probably my best hope right now to source it locally...

Antique dealers are in comms with more established collectors and the good stuff goes almost instantly. Record shops also a no go cos they're usually run by collectors who will snap up a Led Zep IV as soon as they smell it

if you are not a collector then theres nothing wrong with reissued vinyl, especially if cut from the master.

first issues are also not difficult to source, if you were in CT I would have probably sourced a copy.

The ones released now have been "remastered" and are not from the original. My whole point of going vinyl is to bypass any sound that has been through a computer. I work with that shyte all day, it hurts my ears

And a reissue is R400 ish, secondhand is max R200

FWIW SA audiophiles back in the day abhorred local LP pressings as the masters were 2nd hand from overseas and considered to be "worn", imports at a premium price were preferred and definitely sounded better on top end equipment.

... if you’re paying R200 for old vinyl I might consider digging through my moth balled collection for Zepp IV :D

I will say again, reissues are not always remastered and are effectively second prints, its best you ask your dealer as he will know for sure, assuming ofcourse he is knowledgeable that way. I've found that the bootleg reissues are generally done from master and the original labels are more likely to remaster.

Anyway if you were in Cape Town I would have been able to source that LP quite easily but shipping vinyl is always a risky business especially with the Post Office as they are now.

I lost a vinyl which I ordered in June, only 500 ever printed, I paid R670 for it but my dealer has been gracious enough to refund the money, but that wasn't the point.
