Violent crime worst in poor areas

Is this a surprise for anyone? The stats scream this loud & clear.
 
Rape, assault and domestic violence are terrible in the poorer areas. :( Comes down to hopelessness if you ask me.
 
ANd these words come from the same mouth that says there is no crime problem.. *cough* *cough* what was that Mbeki?
