Hi Guys,

Our firm is thinking of switching from Pastel Payroll to the web-based VIP Liquid Payroll.

Is anyone currently using this in their infrastructure? Or had experience with this before?

I only gave support on pastel payroll before, never did any payslip etc work on it.

Yeah Liquid is not a bad choice at all.
I don't know people using it, but I do know people in their dev department and they are quite happy with the product (from that perspective at least). I was also told it's a pretty cool system too.

My previous employer used VIP - not sure which version, but ran on our own server - that allowed users to login in (via a browser) to request leave, print payslips etc.

The user interface was limited to Internet Explorer ... <sigh>. I also managed to crash the interface a couple of times ...

We've been using it for about a year now and it's great. They've recently added a leave module as well, which is pretty cool. A bit of a mission to set up (because of the tax and UIF stuff), but once it is setup it works like a charm.

EDIT: I'm referring specifically to VIP Liquid Payroll

This is probably a bit RAS, but we specialize in web-based HCM (basically HR and process management) solutions. We have a dedicated payroll provider (Axia) that's integrated to our solution. We've recently (last week, actually) started rolling out a tablet friendly UI as well...

You could give TalyPayroll a try, it offers 5 free users for you to experiment with. Also an online based system and allows employees to log in to view their own payslips.
