Virgin Active Once off Initiation Fee

Pretty sure I never paid that, back when I was a member. After realising the only reason I liked the membership was for the squash courts, I left and joined a squash club for a fraction of the price.

Is this only if you sign up using Vitality?

I paid R1,500 back in 2015 (on Vitality, cancelled my subscription a few years before), but with a benefit that if I went to gym X times in Y period I'd get an Addidas store voucher worth R1,500. Earned the voucher and spent it on new gym shoes, so I wasn't too bitter.

I paid R675 in 2003, so R1725 14 years later doesn't sound too bad given the discount you will be getting.

I asked this in another thread if it was worth paying for vitality if one had to pay a stupid crazy gym activation fee over and above vitality fees at va and planet fitness
It looks like it's maybe cheaper to get an off Peak single club VA membership without the vitality hassle now even though comprehensive discovery cover has gone over R5500 pm for family coverage now.

The best part is that I do have Vitality and that's fee you will have to pay with Vitality.

So I was on Vitality until the end of Feb and I was with Planet Fitness. I moved to Multiply and joined Virgin Active. No sign up fee but I had to pay R150 for the membership card... and I got a lekka togbag.

Enjoy the tog bag because you ll be paying for it for the obligatory 3 month no cover period if you switched out of medical aid providers
I see multiply only offers 25% off Virgin fees or planet fitness in premier their most expensive level

That is insane. I signed up with Planet Fitness this year and the joining fee was like R300 only, and that got waived completely because I pre-paid the first six months' subs (which were discounted as well).

Bottom line is go to the gym that's willing to negotiate on their fees with you.
