This is going to open a can of worms. I can see real threats being broadcast for fun now. Spoof mac, run hotspot with credible text threat, watch the chaos, rnd*x mac, turn off when done.

Maybe he changed it way before the flight and forgot about it (probably did it in the heat of the note7 scandal) and it came back to backfire on him

Now you're pushing your luck lol. The phone changed it's wifi name on it's own to randomly obviously? If a person did it, it would have been for comedy reasons. Even if he did it way before the flight and forgot about it, it was done for comedy reasons.

He was having a drink at the bar before the flight and someone changed his hotspot name. It's happened to us all.

I don't think so. They were literally spreading fear on an aeroplane. Same boat as that YouTuber who tries to do all the Arabic pranks on a plane.

Can you honestly tell me if you were on the plane you would have had a good laugh at the end of this? :wtf:

Sure, I mean, think about it. Can you honestly tell me that the thought of a Note 7 owner on a plane strikes fear in you? Nobody is that brainwashed.
 
He nearly diverted the flight... It's not about whether the Note 7 is a bomb or not, the Department of Transport in the USA and our local SACAA didn't call it that. Yes, they may refer to it as a fire hazard (which might not bring down a plane per se, but is a hazard nonetheless, particularly to passengers) but it's a banned object. As simple as that. Could they charge him, yes. In South Africa they'd definitely strap him up by his toes. As it didn't divert the flight they may well let this slide...time will tell.
