Virgin mobile Free internet settings

Hey can anybody tell me the settings for Virgin mobile so that I can download as much data as I like for free! :confused:
 
Welcome to the forum Richdogster. Where did you hear that there are free setting for VM internet? And if you are 12 years old what are you still doing up at this hour. Still online @01:20

I just woke up to drink some water and cannot get to sleep. Anyway I searched for free internet for virgin mobile and I came up with this forum! Anyway so I decided to register so that I could find out more and Talk to lots of people.

There aren't any free settings, but yet people always seem to think I know what these mythical free settings are... it's strange, really.
 
Free on vodacom

Me and one of my friends had free 3g on our vodacom phones :D (we both were on TopUp135), so there might just be free settings for Virgin.

They must have realised their mistake, because some time through last year they started charging. :eek:

There are no free settings.

Occassionally virgin data is 'open', like it was on one day last week, between 12 and 5.

Take this into consideration! Virgin are charging 50c a megabyte but think about it calculate it and you come up with...... R500 a gigabyte when they are charging you:eek: ! At least it is better than MTN and Vodacom's R2000 a gigabyte:sick: !

Exactly why I use GPRS as little as possible. My ADSL (which is more or less infinitely faster) also costs me 50c/MB on peak and 5c/MB off peak. Way better deal if you ask me. Granted, it's not mobile, but honestly, who downloads gigs of data on the move?

lol, At least i know now that im not going crazy. I also had some, um, 'billing problems' last week.
 
Guys, feel free to tell us when the cap is open on VM in future, it will save us a lot of trouble and money.Cheers

Hey Rich,
You are probably comparing the 'out of bundle' rates. You can buy 500MB in one go and get data a lot cheaper. Vodacom sells this for R189. MTN have something similar - and more reliable.
Virgin only do GPRS and EDGE slow speeds at the moment, unless you piggy-back off of Vodacom.

Virgin's whole philosophy and marketing strategy is keeping billing simple by doing away with billing ripoffs and loopholes (i.e. contracts, bundles and varying rates). Personally, I'd prefer reduced standard rates over the introduction of bundles with expiry dates and all sorts of irritating terms and conditions, like Vodacom imposes. I think Virgin is doing us a favour by keeping their billing system simple. They seem to be the only telecommunications provider who can fit their entire billing plan onto a single page. Don't even get me started on Telkom...

I must say I agree with Edwe.It's so simple and well thought of.Virgin is a company for ppl that use their services for basic and minimal usage.With VM u lose nothing, unlike VC & MTN.

In reality I pay about 45c/MB and if you use R500 in a month you get R80 back. So you pay as little as R420 for 1111MB or 38c/MB.

There is no free settings but once in a while they stop billing.
 
IMO they should bring down their rates just a bit. That was their selling point back in the day but now they don't have much going for them. They don't have to completely outprice vodac or mtn but if they can achieve 25-30cents a meg like now! thenthe convenience billing factor will seem more worth it.

I have never bought one bundle before simply because i dont see the point in going through that trouble, especially seeing as I get such ridiculously low reception from vodac :(
 
i feel that i will go back on data with virgin as soon as they bring there data rates down to like 20c/meg.Vodacom has been disappointing since i bought data bundles from them.
 
In my opinion, Virgin is still the most reasonably priced network. There is no reason for Virgin to bring down their rates (from their point of view at least) unless the other networks lower their own rates further. I'm still waiting for a proper response from Vodacom and MTN first. Where's the competition?

Virgin dont need to bring prices down in their poit of view unles the big cats bring down oob rates
 
20c a meg, that's all I want. If they can do it if you buy a bundle, why not do it out of bundle and save people a lot of effort. You would rake the same profits as well and pay as a operator...
