Can someone please post the manual settings? The automatic download settings do not work for my phone/PDA , only get message saying i need to do it manually.

I tried the APN: "internet" effect [same settings as MTN/Voda which i already have on my phone] , not working.

Option Globe Trotter 3G+ Data Card

I have tried Piesangs recommendation on how to get connected, but I am
failing to come right:

"The steps to take when you receive your card:

1. Remember to go to "Control Panel", "Phone & Modem Settings", "Choose your modem" and insert the following string: at+cgdcont=1,"ip","vdata","",0,0

2. Activate your SIM. *124*1*yournumber#

3. Dial 123 and ask them to activate DATA on your sim

4. If they ask your details tell them that you have a Virgin Mobile number and that they can link the two then you don't have to give all your details again.

5. Make a billable call from your Virgin Mobile sim. (10-15sec) You can do from your MTN Fasklink Software.

6. Connect to the net and enjoy the Cheapest Prepaid Mobile Internet in South Africa."

Unfortunately it went as follows:

1) OK
2) Done
3) They did not know what I am talking about. Siad they escalate the call and it might be resolved tomorrow?
4) N/A
5) Done
6) Error 619 using the normal windows dailup.

Please help

Please help

If you go to this link then you'll see that there is a problem with the 3G profile on the new sim. So you won't be able to connect using your data card.

Note that VM (and other non-Voda SIMS) will not work in a Voda HSDPA card

Charl and others trying to use a VM SIM in the new Voda HSDPA cards: don't waste your time! Voda has admitted the new cards are locked to their network, so you can only use a Voda SIM. MTN data cards (almost identical apart from the branding) do not appear to be locked.

I understand customer pressure is now being put on Voda to change this (illegal?) locking policy, with several customer complaints now pending. I am one of the unhappy (and rather vocal....) customers who has demanded a replacement for the locked card and have been promised one today at Vodaworld Midrand. Will keep the forum updated.

Technically yes.

It is supposed to be enabled by default.

Make it sticky

The Virgin settings should be made a sticky thread. Virgin will send them to you, everything except the APN - vdata setting, but it would still be helpful to have a reference here.
