Virgin Price Drop

Gerald, please give us a hint on what VM s' plans are with a price drop or something? Pleeeaaase?

NOOOOOO!!! Virgin MUST remain committed to not pulling the wool over our eyes with bungles. :)

Note: A lesser charge after the first 5 MB like with calls and SMSes would be welcome though. :D That way the occasional high usage customers would benefit as much while the low usage customers are not at a disadvantage.

Exactly no bundles!!!!!!

Besides Virgin still has the cheapest data for under R150 if you're a prepaid user...(plus not bundled or 30 day limitation)
But a price drop would still be nice :D

Hi Guys,

Thank you for rallying around this topic, as you can see the market is getting quite competitive.

If you look at the overall value proposition of our rates, you will notice that even though the market has dropped its pricing, we are still offering a competitive deal.
We still offer one of the best out-of-bundle rates around, and you don't even need a subscription to qualify for that rate if you are on post-pay.

As I mentioned to one or two of you who have contacted me directly in the past, you won't see the last of us in this space, and we are always looking at ways to shake up the market.

I am really sorry that I can't share the details of the marketing and product strategy (for obvious reasons) but can assure you that our goal is to be the consumer champion in the market; and do what we can to ensure that we live up to that.

Regards,

Gerald.

Brief summary for those unwilling to read the whole post: "No, we're not dropping our prices, and even if we we're not telling you!" :D

Personally I agree though that 50c/MB is very competitive, but 25c/mb is undeniably moreso.

well, with the speed issues with vm the 50c/mb ainty competitive enought, the do seem to be making an effort tho so sometime soon we will see the speed issues evaporate

I think a lot of people are moving away from VM to MTN and Voda so that alone might solve the speed issues, particularly since it'll probably be mainly the heavy users.

If you do not rely on internet access from the cell companies, it is still better to stay on Virgin for occasional use. Works out much cheaper at 50c/mb than getting a bundle which expires.

Thats what I mean, I think Virgin's product and network is aimed at occasional users and might function better now that the people that were using it as a primary connection are migrating to other companies and putting less strain on the network.

I agree that 50c is still very competitive for an out-of-bundle rate, but as I said it won't make me stick with them for ever. I am sure a lot of other users feel the same way and some will even pay slightly more for faster speeds. VM knows how many heavy users they have and they know full well that it equals a large percentage of their data sales and if I am correct those revenues have already started to drop.

Soon i'm hoping that VM will let the cat out of the bag:)

It's not all about price. Virgin has been very slow and unreliable recently. No matter how cheap, the frustration factor will always win the day.

Yep, leave that scraggy poxy old VM moggy in the bag. It can die and wither away in there.
