Virgin to boost cellular competition

I think they pinning their hopes on number portability, I just wonder how they gonna attract new clients other than better service/brand. Not everyone falls for that and from that article they are here for the money (obviously)

In addition to its strong brand, its main selling points will be superior customer service,

Oh Please.......................I am on Cell-C! I tried for two days to send an MMS and every time I got a "Network unavailable" response. Eventually I queried it at their online customer service. Two days later I got an sms acknowledging my query. On the fourth day I got this email:

Thank you for contacting Cell C, Name

We have been experiencing a slight technical error in this regard however; our Developers are currently working at solving this problem.

Thank you for your patience in this regard.

It is exactly because of their poor customer service that I am leaving them as soon as my contract expires in 287 days. If Virgin is using the Cell-C backbone, the problems are sure to filter through.

I used Virgin Mobile UK a lot when I first got to the UK (trying to find a job). I was amazed at how quickly I could use up a £10 airtime voucher without getting in very much talk time

great news

Bring in more competition

im not expecting anything significant in terms of pricing, the article makes it quite clear that virgin will be targetting wealthier clients. if their concern was lower prices, they would have targetted the lower end of the market, not the upper end

Actually SA fares OK compared to other countries in the mobile costs arena
Just trying to make the point that although Virgin were targeting the lower end of the market in the UK, they were still very expensive in comparison to other UK providers therefore we shouldn't be expecting incredibly lower prices in South Africa from Virgin Mobile

Cell C 4 cheapo's but not cheap

Cell C GPRS (Edge) is the only broadband they have slow compared to MTN VODA 3G but are the most expensive at R2/meg

Then they wonder why they dont grow like the competion

“These factors alone may not give it mass-market appeal, but will definitely position Virgin Mobile SA well among the country’s high-spending, quality conscious subscribers,”

You mean idiots who care more about a logo than anything else?

From what I've seen overseas Virgin no longer offer good service, quality or even better prices.

Why does Virgin always choose networks with **** quality? In the UK they use T-Mobile, as soon as you leave town your signal is gone.
