We seem to have a vius called 'Monkey Test' on our phone. Avast & Clean Master pick it up & delete it, but it always comes back & keeps on loading & installing OLX & Cool Browser. It is obviously chomping data.

Any ideas, apart from rebooting & starting all over again?

Yup, I'm afraid it is going to be a factory reset. Now to backup Whatsapp! If I'm correct, do I just copy the Whatsapp folder to a memory card, factory reset the phone, copy the whatsapp folder back, then install Whatsapp?
BTW, its a Gobii phone. A great phone but with little memory.

how did you get this? do you install from 3rd party app stores?

No idea how it arrived. It's actually on my GF's phone, & she uses Whatsapp for business. Maybe she clicked on something in a hurry, or maybe clicked on one of those spam requests to update something. It is a bugger. Avast & Cleanmaster both delete it, but it always comes back & autodownloads OLX & that Cool Browser apps.

I also sideload apps VERY occasionally onto that phone, as the memory is very small & the app store says there is no space to install new apps. However, I do the same with my Note 2, without any problems.

try NOD antivirus for mobile

I'm going to try ESET & 360 Security first, then reset.
Am I correct with Whatsapp, do I just copy the Whatsapp folder to a memory card, factory reset the phone, copy the whatsapp folder back, then install Whatsapp?

Yep. Make sure you have the database folder especially.

Yup, I tried both. Both detected 'Monkey Test', both deleted it. I rebooted the phone & 'Monkey Test' was again detected a few minutes later. Son ESET, 360 Security, Avast & CleanMaster dedected it, deleted it & it still came back.

Wow that's bad news, if ESET can't remove it then that's really bad, reset I guess.

OP: I'm curious - what phone do have? And is it rooted?

I'm just trying to figure out how the malware got onto your device in the first place.
