Virus or Something

Hi there
We are running Windows 2003 Server SP1

I have the following issue and can't seem to find out what is causing this problem

When creating a file be it .txt .xls .doc or .aspx and this file start with
rpt or avg

for example
rpt.txt
avg.txt

Windows or a virus or something deletes/ hides the file.

I say hide because when you try and recreate the exact same file windows says that the file already exsist can someone please help

I have tried the following

McAfee
Norton
Spybot Search and Destroy with no luck.

The trial of Nod should be fine in removing the thing, no?

Try this :

Open a command-line window.

type in edit test.txt

type in a few lines of text.

Save and close.

type in dir test.txt to check if you can still see the file you've just created.

If the file still disappears, then you've got issues. If not, check your desktop settings to see if its not set to hide such files.
