Visa application

Yes, you should be fine. Processing times are around three weeks. So you have plenty of time.

Upload all of your documents on the TLSConnect site. You will just need to print out the checklist and take that with you to your appointment.

There they will take your prints, photos and passport.

No need to submit flights or hotel details. They’ve specifically said they don’t want that info.

No need to prove medical cover.

TB test only needed if you’re going for more than six months. In that case a visitor visa is not suitable, anyway.

I have applied 4 times and currently waiting on my 5th visa. Should be ready next week.

My wife has applied for a two year visa about a week ago and there was no need for a TB test.

No there wouldn’t be. Because she won’t be allowed to stay in the UK for more than 6 months at a time.

Oh, I see what you mean. Mind you, we were going to renew her lapsed permanent residency and they also said no need for a TB test. I even called them in UK to check and they said no need. It says at the start of the process it is required but wasn’t listed in the docs required at the end. We actually paid the £550 odd and then cancelled it when we considered we wouldn’t be moving in the next two years and have at go for a normal visitors visa instead.

Still waiting on the R12k refund.

The Home Office have been brought to book often for giving bad advice over the phone.

That refund a take up to 28 days I believe.

Hope you get it. That’s a lot of money to loose like that.

It depends on the type of visa and the documents you agree to supply. My wife's 6 month visitor visa checklist looks very different than your transit visa.

Yup each visa category has different requirements.

If you land in Heathrow you need that stupid VISA for your connecting flights. I would assume you have a normal VISA to exit the airport., Otherwise straight back home for you.
When was this put into effect?

I only had a US visa and I went to JFK via LRH with no issues.

Yeah, if you have a US visa or Canadian visa; then you do not need a transit visa.

Interesting, did she previously have ILR and it expired because she was out of the country for > 2 years?

Yeah I am wondering the same. Was thinking about it, yesterday.

My wife is in this situation, and we still need to chat to someone regarding the process to try and get it re-instated. We're hoping my skilled worker visa goes through and that it would show 'strong ties with the UK' if I lived and worked there.

Interesting; I was not aware ILR can "expire" but it makes sense, why would you need it, if you've not been in the UK for greater than 2 years. My wife would have the same issue for her SA PR. (If we bother with that) - (She' a British Citizen) and DHA say if you not in SA for 2 years, they CAN revoke it - but stop short of saying they WILL.

Yes. She had ILR and we came back here to look after her mother who was on her last legs. Turned out last legs lasted a good 10 years and that gap of two years was inadvertantly missed. We don't plan to go back although two of our kids are there andthe other one will go in 2 years when he finishes school. So who knows.

Reason we applied for it to be reinstated was we're travelling in a few weeks for family stuff (I'm Scottish) and it's a pita to keep doing the visa thing. So we applied and sent the application off but it became a bit close to our departure date and a few hoops to jump through too many to keep it active, such as proving you are returning for good etc and not just using it as a visa free entry every two years, so we cancelled and just went for a two year visitor instead.

Simply put we don't plan to go back there to live but in a few years who knows. So if we do, we don't want to jepordise it by abusing it now.

I thought it was three years without a visit.

Completely understandable. The 2 year visitor visa is perfect for that then. I have considered applying for the two year visitor visa - because yea it's a real PITA each time to do it (We go over once a year on average) and going now in July.

But I have applied for a normal visitor visa again; because chances are the next visa I apply for won't be a visitor one - and that will be within the next 18 months.

I just checked; you're right, it's three years.

All permanent residence permit holders are required not to be absent from the Republic for more than 3 consecutive years to maintain their status valid.

I got a Schengen visa, and needs a airport visa,
Got an email today , dhl number received, DHL hope to have it here by Wednesday .
Time about 15 working days.

I still say TLS was bad, they could have send notifications like VFS did.
