Visa application

DHL said they gave it to a 3rd party courier, now I don't know where the visa is. No name, number etc.

Did you get it in the end?

No idea why you had a bad service Wirth TLS - I have had excellent service with them.

Applied for my Son's Certificate of Entitlement on the 9th May - received it two weeks later with notifications all along the way.

Applied for my UK Visitor visa on the 8th of May - received it yesterday - TLS notified me all the time and an SMS.

Yesterday, thank you.

Ah — so not too long then, which is good to hear.
My conference is at the end of July, so still have a bit of time.

But a bit worried, whilst I uploaded my flight e-ticket, didn't do the same for the hotel bookings. I had combined them in one PDF, but realise now I uploaded the flight e-ticket alone, as opposed to the combined.

Hope that's not an issue — and I did indicate in the actual application, where I will be staying.
Worst case, I guess, is it gets rejected, and then I re-submit a new VISA application. R2.7k will burn, but everything is already booked, so have to make a plan!

Won't make a difference.

Uploading flight tickets and hotel bookings is not needed. The Home Office specifically says not to upload them as they hold no real weight.

They only care about two things:

- Do you have enough money for the trip?
- Will you leave the UK when you say you will?

If you can prove those two things; you'll be good to go. SA rejection rate on Standard Visitor visas is low - like 3%.

Hi All. I am now at the point of pure frustration with (German) Schengen visas. My parents have lived in Germany for close to 7 years now and I typically go roughly once a year to visit. Ive just received my Visa for December, I think its the 6th one so far, and AGAIN its only for exactly the duration of the stay. Despite submitting every single piece of documentation needed, even the "Verpflichtungserklärung" - the official document from Germany themselves requesting 5 years. Im starting to believe TLS contact or the embassy that issues them are just a money make scheme / scam. It costs nearly R3k each time and a crazy amount of effort.
The ONCE I did the visa through Netherlands I got a 1 year first time. Not that a 1 year helps though, a 2 year would at least.
Does anyone know some sort of a hack of getting an extended visa? Im fed up.

No idea how the determine it, definitely sounds more like a money making racket than any legitimate flight risk concern.

Longest I've got one for is 1 year.

Def money making. Applied for a German schengen visa for December as well. Got a 23 day multi entry visa. SIL applied for the same trip got a 30 day multi entry, but she'll need to apply for another schengen visa as she's going back in Feb.

If you are able to, try booking a trip with France as your first destination (and will have to be scheduled as the longer stay of your 2 destinations). France seems to be the easiest of the Schengen visas in terms of validity periods.

You might be ultra high risk.

I often get 2-3 year schengens when applying but I have solid ties to SA (long term job, house etc), you have parents there. If you dont have a job here or are self employed with this situation its the highest of high risks.

Yeah agreed; not sure if it helps OP immediately but I'm now on my second 5 year visa from France.

Is it better to go to the consulate instead of an agency? The French consulate is in Cape Town

We want to go to Austria next year, I would not mind also getting a 3 or 5 year Schengen Visa, it makes travel arrangements just so much easier and I believe a good way to encourage tourism.

Previous we got a 3 year visa from France and we used it to visit Italy and Germany the for the next 2 years.

Maybe I should apply via the Czech embassy and also spend a few days in Prague.

Or arrive and depart from Prague.

To my knowledge, that is no longer how it is achieved.

It is either

Country in which most days are spent

or

If equal amount of days in two or more Schengen countries, then the country (of those two/three) in which first arrival is intended.

You dont have a choice its usually agency, also the higher risk you are the shorter time you get.

High risk
Not married
Self employed
Renting etc

Although Im not married, I do have a permanent job here (which is part of the documentation they receive), and Ive even got a bond on my house (which is not part of documentation as they dont ask for it).

The thing is Ive had like 6 visas with them now, if thats not enough evidence for them that I return I dont know what is. But Im done with them now. It will be the last time applying via Germany. Sick of their sh*t.

Next time I will try France as people suggested. Hopefully they look at my stack of previous visas and consider it a no-brainer to issue a 3 or 5 year.

just a question you do not the prior visa on your application?

We had 1 year with france and 2 with portugal so sounds like anything is better than germany

I do think the fact that your parents are there is a massive red flag/risk though and something that is obviously needed on your application.
