Hi, I applied for a schengen visa, got daily updates via email and sms. Then I also had to apply for a British visa, just picking up another flight at Heathrow, but no feedback at all. I applied at tls, but they say they submit it to the British gov. 5 working days ago. At least the schengen one had a enquiry adres, this king Charles got nothing. How long have any of you waited.

Two weeks give or take for my wife's visa.

If you wanted sms updates I think that option was available, for a fee.

The SMS fee is only for TLS to let you know your passport is ready for collection.

Average turnaround is 3 weeks. As per government site.

I applied for my 5th visitor visa for UK last Monday. Only expect to hear back next Monday.

We didn’t pay the fee yet they still alerted us that my wife’s visa was ready for collection via sms. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It’s actually ridiculous that she has to go through this nonsense every time we want to pop back for a visit.

Why is it ridiculous?

I am just climbing of at Heathrow, then after an hour, climbing up again, R832 for this.

Blame it on people from some of the countries that now require the transit visa who have abused the transit system in the past.

Can't you query it?
Have done, but home affairs is saying just wait.

Thank you for writing to the Department of Home Affairs contact centre. Apologies for the late response.

Kindly note that the temporary residence application is still in process, and we have forwarded a follow up enquiry to the processing unit to expedite the process.

Back when the UK was part of the EU, spouses of British citizens were entitled to free Schengen visas. The UK never saw fit to offer the same courtesy to its own citizens.
Fair enough.

You could have chosen to not go via Heathrow....
Yup this is the reason we dont even bother going via BA. LAst time we cancelled our flights and rebooked with another airline as it was cutting it too close.

So my understanding is you need a DATV because to get to your next flight you need to go through passport control?
What stops you just walking out the airport?

Wasn't that more because they were forced to offer it (the Surinder Singh judgement) rather than because they felt like being nice?

If you land in Heathrow you need that stupid VISA for your connecting flights. I would assume you have a normal VISA to exit the airport., Otherwise straight back home for you.

Thats stupid.

Yeah you need a normal visa before you’re even allowed on the plane.
