I recently purchased something online with my FNB credit card, which has "online secure" or Verified by Visa activated and requires an OTP to complete purchases.

I click pay and it takes me to the usual page where I enter the OTP, except I have 2nd thoughts and click cancel. The transaction still goes thru and I have my goods. The amount has been deducted from my card after sitting under "pending transactions" for 3 days.

What is the purpose of online secure/verified by Visa? Is it so that you can dispute transactions that have not been authorised by you? It certainly doesn't prevent someone using your card if they manage to get the numbers.

What numbers? How is the OTP not making this transaction secure?

You last minute indecision has nothing to do with security.

Hi I was trying to fund my trading account with my card on the website and I mistakenly put in the wrong OTP number then only realised later that it's been sent to my messages and FNB app too please help because it says the card is blocked even though it's not Screenshot_20190623-070348.jpg

If it says the card is blocked for online purchases, why do you say that it isn't?

It reports multiple incorrect OTP submissions. I'd slow down there after an initial incorrect one in the future.

Just go to your nearest bank branch and sort it out. You shouldn't do nothing after receiving a blocked card notice of any description.

Move to Capitec. No need to memorize and input OTP numbers. Just open the app and tap approve...

It's not the bank..it's the user.

If you cannot read four numbers correctly and type them incorrectly...MULTIPLE times..., changing banks will not help you.

Oh and FNB does use Tap & Approve....at least mine does.

Yup. 3dsecure is a different thing, it's visa not fnb.

Yes like the fact they can make it easier for the user but chooses not to.
Easier? ....easier than typing 4 numbers?

Nope...that's called "dumbing it down".

But we all know your irrational hate for FNB as well as your Capitec fanboy status.

So, nothing further to see here...

Back on topic. It is odd that the transaction went through. Is he worried now

As Sinbad said, that's a different thing, I also have approve sometimes, depends on what method the payment people are using, if generic Visa you get the OTP pin.
