Hi Everyone

I have a Blackberry Bold (9700) unlocked and would like to use it for data, tethering, voice and Satnav. It looks like Vodacom has a prepaid plan for R59 per month.

Please help me understand the following:

1) I have to buy a SIM card and add on voice. Can I buy Data the same way?
2) The Vodacom web site mentions the Blackberry plan. I assume that I do not have to buy one of their phones to use the plan.
Also, how do they get the R59 from me for the plan?
3) Will any Vodacom SIM card work in a Vodacom Huawei Data stick?
4) Anyone having success with tethering and Mac? Otherwise I will install XP.
5) Does the Satnav work on the Blackberry? Cannot find it on the Vodacom site.

Cheers!

Hey there.

1). Yes. Yes - but when purchasing airtime, convert it into data bundles by dialing *111#
2). Purchase airtime, dial *111#, purchase BIS x the number of months you'll be using it. The total cost (R59xnumber of months) will be deducted from your airtime.
3). Yes
4). No success in general with tethering. But I read it is possible. Maybe :D
5). Yes. Dial *123#

Thanks! This is new to me. I guess will buy R400 in airtime. Then call *111# I assume it will ask me how much of the R400 to convert to data. I select R100 Then do the same with BIS. Is that correct? Then I will have R200 left for voice calls. Then call Satnav - and they will deduct a further R35 from my voice Rands?

There isn't a separate charge for satnav - will work out of the box once bis is activated.
