Hello

I have a copy (Original) Of Vista Ultimate 32bit.
I never got a 64 bit Dvd though, if a managed to get a copy could I use my same Cd key or not ?

Thanks

I would say no? Anyone is welcome to correct if they want :)

Well no would be my guess, never really tried putting a 32 bit key into my 64 bit install :)

It will work. The Ultimate version should have included both dvds for you, unless you got the OEM version, but the key will still work...

If it's 'Ultimate' you can legally remove the
64bit installation and exchange it for a 32bit with the same product key

Yes, it will work. If you dont have the 64-bit DVD, hop onto MS site and order it from them. You only pay shipping charges.

I did it the other way around. I ordered a x64 version, then realised AutoCAD LT won't run on x64. I then downloaded a not-so-legal x86 version of Vista Business and used my original x64 key to install.

im soo tired of answering this Q.... lol- please by gods make this stickied.

i purchased an oem 32bit vista home premium, and then downloaded 64bit from my msdn subscription.

used my 32bit key to install the 64 bit

it worked, but i had to phone in to re-authenticate it.

bottom line

you can use 32bit key for 64bit.
you can use 64bit key for 32bit.

So hold on............if I bought a 32 bit version of Vista Ultimate say, then got hold of a 64 bit ISO....I could upgrade it for free? Or do they cost the same anyway?

Look at it this way, when you bought Vista Ultimate, you paid for the key and got the cd with. If you bought the "key" and got the 32bit cd, then you can just get a 64bit cd and load with the same key and vice versa.

Like already stated, the "RETAIL" version of Vista Ultimate contains both x64 & x86 versions. If you however purchase DSP versions, then they come seperately, but the key works for both versions.
