Hi,

I know I am resurrecting an old thread, but for those who wish to seamlessly upgrade to the 64 bit version of their legally purchased version of Vista, I have pasted a link to a thread from a different forum here.

This works well, I have tried it on two machines. Using the little ABR utility would even negate the need to phone Microsoft for activation, as it saves your activation for later use, pretty much what most OEM recovery discs do.

Yes it is the same key. When you use the ABR utility it creates a "backup" of both your license key and the activation itself.

I have a copy (Original) Of Vista Ultimate 32bit.
I never got a 64 bit Dvd though, if a managed to get a copy could I use my same Cd key or not ?

All ready tried it but I used a 64bit Cd key with a 32Bit os And it didnt work?
search the internet for keys,worked 4 me?

I have subsequently reverted back to 32bit, as Sony does not offer adequate support for its machines in the 64bit environment. Did however change from a 5400 rpm HDD to a 7200 rpm HDD, what a decent upgrade, performance of the Sony with 7200 rpm/32bit is not on par with 5400rpm/64bit.

My HP notebook however runs very well on 64bit, even our IT guys have now converted many HP notebooks to 64bit using the 32bit key and the ABR key backup utility. At least HP offers full support for the 64 bit environment.
