You can use windows defender for this as well.
Control panel normal view> Programs Icon> change startup programs
 
Ya but who uses windows defender? vista 64 bit does not seem to get spyware or virus's

Magic format man, sounds like your install not looking so good.

Do things in steps, like get everything setup and install COD4 and see if its working.

Believe me vista is worth the effort :)

Also remember vista for the first week will collect data for superfetch.

do you have nero installed by any chance?

ahhhhhhhhhhhh then thats another huge problem.

Superfetch basically watches what you do, so when you do it again things happen that little bit faster, stores everything you do on a daily basis.

Do this go to the box above start and type msconfig, services tab and look for nmindexingservice and untick it. Thats worse than microsoft indexing.
 
Dob how easy is it to get your game and sound working in linux?

I'm betting he will throw his pc out the windows trying to get wine to work with games.

So yes magic install linux, DOB knows that its easier to game on linux than windows, plus DX10 games run much better in linux than they do in vista :p

I have vista ultimate x64 with 2gb ram and I can play Crysis etc with no issues.....

Yea 2Gb Ram is enough... I just want more and smoother Loading.
Company of Heroes WAS running so sweet when I put the extra 2GB in my Mobo.... sigh now I must start all over again.

I have had a single issue with my machine so you shouldn't either

Yes its all good n well you turn off windows indexing, then you get nero indexing which is worse.

If you follow my steps and make sure both windows indexing and nero indexing is off, you won;t have alot of hdd activity after the first week or so.

You can turn off superfetch as well, i turn it off.
