Vista and Windows 7

You will actually get to a point where throwing better hardware at the os, the os will not be able to use it. For example more than 3 something gig ram on the 32 bit os. Thus a score out of 10 will make sense. The same hardware will be able to get a score of 9/10 for vista but only a 7/10 for windows 7. It will make a lot more sense. (Actually only for those used to the decimal system)
 
I've thrown win 7 on an old 1.6 P4 lappie with a gig of ram and an ATI mobility on board chip in it. Despite:

Processor: 2.1
Memory: 3.9
Graphics: 1.0
Gaming Graphics: 1.0
Hard Disk: 3.4

and overall : 1.0 :eek:

...Windows 7 runs pretty well, albeit with no aero, despite lots of fiddling with omega ati drivers, etc. Only problem is the OS has used up 18 gigs of the things pathetic little 20 Gb HDD, so I can't even install office. But definitely MS have tweaked the vista guts a LOT, 'cos Win 7 is running quicker than even XP did on this machine.
