As a lot of you know, I have gone through many patches on how I feel about Vista. Most recent was I despised it with all the strength in my body.
I prefer *NIX based systems and from Windows usually tweaked Server editions such as 2003 and 2008.
For the last couple of months, had XP PRO, Server 2008 and Ubuntu installed.
Anyway never really used XP anymore, I dunno it is fantastic piece of software but I spent most of my time in Server and Ubuntu.
Thus it got deleted, then my Server 2008 refused to see my DVD RW drive, no matter what I did. Not sure what the hell happened to the install. Thus I thought it was better to just install.
Last Ubuntu upgrade from Alpha 6 to Beta, killed it completely, only time I have ever known Linux to delete its self.
Thus last night I decided, I did not want to spend +-hours and hours setting up Server 2008.
So I decided to install Vista (I do have a legal license), installed it, added SP1 and another 200mb worth of updates.
I'll install Ubuntu 8.10 final when it is released.
Why did I choose Vista?
a) I am not going to install XP, since my machine can run Vista quite nicely these days.
b) I am not waiting til Windows 7 is released
c) I actually own it
d) I don't have the time anymore to spend hours and hours setting up Server 2008.
Another thing, as much as I hate to admit it, Vista has come a long way with all the updates, since the original RTM edition.
Would I recommend it to anyone, if your PC can support it. Yes but do not go out and buy a PC for Vista if XP runs fine on it.
