Vista Users

Most reversed engineered drivers, made by the open-source community, is currently better than that of Vistas. I'm referring to graphics drivers which tend to lag behind. Most of the other hardware used have perfect, stable drivers.

The propriety developers have full access to their own specifications, physical hardware, money and Microsoft APIs. These companies do not have a valid excuse for leaving paying customers with unstable drivers.

using ultimate for a past week or so, and loving it. had played around with beta versions and the final. am running single boot vista atm, and have only one issue which i have solved via other means, so no more of that...

Maybe I should have both XP and Vista partitions to see when Vista's drivers have improved enough to justify me using it?

What do you guys think?

Think dual booting XP and Vista is the best Microsoft option. That way you can chose the best of both worlds.

How large should Vista's partition be as a minimum?

I did it the other way round, made a small partition for XP (50GB) and the rest is for Vista.

Counterstrike: Source runs on average at 100fps on vista for me, with spikes to 150fps and drops to 80fps, quite playable for me

Vista Ultimate

4200 X2 939
MSI Diamond Board
ATI x1600xt gcard
2 gigs ram
Vista on a 20gig partition (Bad Idea .... at least 30 is needed)

Overall performance is great, no issues with games such World of Warcraft, Warcraft 3, Command and Conquer 3. No other issues in general just over anoyyment with stupid access permissions until i found the turn user access off!
