Vista's stoned

I have no issues with Vista. Have come to prefer it over XP. Linux is still a long way from making it onto my desktop.

I have been running Linux for 8 years now, as a desktop, Vista has a long way to go before it can compare to my desktop. :)

Nice one MS. Can't say how great it is not having to worry about being attacked by viruses

i once installed linux. it crashed on me twice. it did work, but it was ugly to look at, ugly to use and for me... completely useless.

although i can understand geeks getting off to sitting and tweaking their OS so it can do what they need it to do.

i prefer an out of box OS that does everything i need it do with the risk of getting a virus or two and since windows 3.11 i have only ever gotten two viruses.... so whats that... almost 11 years?

lol, I think the fact that it's a 13 year old virus is probably why it's not being detected... but ag whats the point when you make a thread about Vista.

haha, and I also once installed Linux, I was going to have to read pages of crap about my wireless card and get custom drivers, work with the command line to get nvidia drivers going and mess aroun with WINE config files to be able to start the only 7 year old game I really play. Probably a lot of other hassles... I was excited about it but after about 5 hours it wasn't worth it.

Strangely enough Windoze 4 Workgroups has little support for direct internet connectivity, and has less open ports, compared to later versions of Windoze - in the days of W4W most viruses spread via floppy & stiffy disks - usually along with pirated s/w.

strange that that can happen very strange.
lets have a poll to settle this once and for all
who uses linux/win2000/winme/mac/xp/xppro/vista/win98.and the dreaded longhorn beta

yup. my first virus came via a stiffy disk. broke my pc for days. that was on windows 3.11

the second was on windows xp. i downloaded a 'crack' for a game which turned out to be a nasty. for some reason AVG did not catch it and my OS was doomed.

moral of the story... don't use pirated software. :D
