i'd like to know who gets so many messages that they actually NEED visual voice mail......do you guys have irritating wives or something?

Not a "need". Ever heard of convenience?
I don't need the App Store on my iPhone but it's convenient... I don't need push mail on my iPhone but it's convenient... I don't need movies on my iPhone but it's convenient... I don't need facebook on my iPhone but it's convenient... etc etc etc

yes, I'm using that APN, but it's still not working.

Hmmm... Send VVM off to 123, wait a minute then send VVM on to 123. Reboot and see if it works. I reloaded the firmware on my iPhone the other day and had to deactivate and reactivate again.
What version firmware your running?

Thanks Rapidblue. I've done that, got a sms confirming the deletion, then on again, rebooted, but still just get normal voicemail when I dial 121. I'm on fw 3.1.3. What happens with you when you press voicemail or dial 121? Do you get a displayed list of voicemails on your iphone?

also having issues

hi everyone

Activated via sms on Friday, waited until Sunday, and see that if I touch the voice mail icon on the phone menu I now have the voice mail screen with the "greeting" and "Speaker" icons.
I saved my message as default.
Now when I navigate to this screen it says "unable to initialize connection" :(

I have tried both the internet and iphone APN's...

Any troubleshooting advice - I tried calling 111 but all I got was the run-around...?

Thanks in advance

P.S. Does the voicemail password setting in general settings have something to do with the service?

Dialing 121 still works like normal but when pressing the voicemail icon in the phone app you should see a list of messages on your display. Weird that yours aint working. What do 155 have to say about it?

155 gave me a ref & said that someone would phone me back, but that hasn't happened yet. I've got a feeling that it might have something to do with *5005*86*121# that I entered when I got the the phone, so that the voicemail button would dial my voice mail. I found a post on a Canadian site where they explain how to setup their visual voice mail. They use the same code as above, but instead of 121 for the mailbox number, they give their visual voicemail number. So if I can just find out what the visual voicemail number for Vodacom is, I'm sure I can fix it using that code. One would think that 155 would know that number...

Why did you set your mailbox number manually? Did you buy your iPhone abroad?

No, it's a vodacom iphone - was just habit - been doing this since the original iphone 8gig from 3 years ago. Got a phone call from 155 today, and they have discovered that even though the system indicates that my vvm service is active, my mailbox had been migrated to the wrong platform, hence vvm not working. They are looking into it.
