Just out of interest. My sister went to the doctor a while ago for not feeling well in general. Always tired, easily getting sick etc. Doctor ran some tests and it turned out she had a big Vitamin D deficiency. My gran was also diagnosed a few months ago with it. Out of curiosity my mom had hers tested also, and was also deficient, but not as severely. I have been taking Vitamin D3 for a good while now (mainly because I hate the sun. Dont even like bright lights), but have neglected to take it for a month now. Just have not bothered. For the last two weeks I am feeling really fatigued. Always tired. Think I need to make a point of taking it again and see if it comes right.

Sis was put on a Vit D pill that has like 50 000 international units or something. To be taken only every second week.

Anyway, here is some of the main risks of having a Vitamin D deficiency

Symptoms of bone pain and muscle weakness can mean you have a vitamin D deficiency. ... Low blood levels of the vitamin have been associated with the following:
Increased risk of death from cardiovascular disease.
Cognitive impairment in older adults.
Severe asthma in children.
Cancer..

That's why you take a good multi vitamin pills like ON OptiMen which has most of the vitamins and other stuff you need.

I take spirulina instead of a vitamin supplement. Not sure of the levels of Vit D contained in it, and admittedly have become very lax with taking even that.

Go for a walk :p it's cheaper and more natural

I also used that smelly green stuff, it didn't work quite as well as gericomplex.

From wiki it says that spirulina has no vitamin D.

No. I dont like direct sunlight. I dont like bright lights either. When I got my glasses the optomitrist asked if I have a aversion to bright lights be any chance and I said yes, how did she know? She said I have larger than normal pupils, so where other peoples peoples will block a lot of light when it is too bright, mine does get smaller, but not enough so I will find bright light very irritating. That is why I started taking Vit D in the first place, cause I dont like going in the sun. I always stay opt for a nice shady spot.

The Dischem brand does not smell at all. I swallow them whole also so dont even taste it. The normal multi vitamins just seem like you pee them out. I used to take Chlorella also at some stage. They say it is better than Spirulina, but my pee would smell like the ocean after a a day or two haha

I love Gericomplex! Haven't been using it for a while, but that stuff is like Nos.

Polarised ray-bans.

...tried to up my uptake of Vit D, as it helps the body to absorb magnesium...which in turn keeps my blood pressure in check...Anyways got supplement from the local pharmacy...my pee turned yellow, no biggie...but then I started to have the runs...as in it was coming out of my like water...-even halved the recommended dosage...that did not help either..my body just said, thanks but no thanks...now I add Spirulina to my veggie juice at night...

They need to get in the sun more. No way I'm vitamin D deficient, I'm out and about in the sun way too much actually.

With multivitamins be very careful. Taking more than the recommended daily dose of a vitamin can be harmful to your health. According to my wife, a lot of people take too many vitamins.

My SO experienced similar symptoms, but she has an iron deficiency (diagnosed by 2 different/independent doctors), which is apparently very common in females.
