Vitamins

I take vitamin D and niacin (a form of vitamin B3).

Vitamin D is the best antidepressant I have ever used (it has done more for me than Zoloft, Cymbalta, Fluanxol, Cipramil or Wellbutrin ever did).

I use niacin because it increases HDL (good cholesterol). According to the Mayo Clinic, it is more effective than any prescription statin medication to increase HDL:

Niacin can raise HDL cholesterol — the "good" cholesterol — by 15 to 35 percent. This makes niacin the most effective drug available for raising HDL cholesterol. While niacin's effect on HDL is of most interest, it's worth noting that niacin also decreases your LDL and triglyceride levels. High levels of LDL and triglycerides are significant risk factors for heart disease.

Niacin is a potent short-acting vasodilator and causes my skin to flush red for about a half hour every time I take it on an empty stomach. Since using it my hair also seems to be in better condition.

Very interesting. Is it not Vitamin D that is actually a hormone and not a vitamin? Or is it Vitamin K? I also read that Vitamin D + Zinc can help increase free testosterone in your bloodstream.

Because they don't make me feel nauseous, which most vitamins do. :) I don't have any empirical evidence ;) if that is what you are looking for.

No, that't not what I'm looking for. LOL :D I have honestly tried dozens and dozens of supplements, and multivitamins, and besides from the hole in my pocket, I felt NO different.

Well I try to eat healthy, but I also take a multi-vit...just in case I miss something crucial somewhere - as a fall back of sorts.

I'm not convinced one can cover all one's bases purely by eating healthily.
That's great if you ignore the dangers of taking more than the body requires.

statins arent intended for HDL. They used for LDL and triglycerides. Although not all statins are effective for triglycerides atorvastatin was found effective. So yeah practically everything will be superior to statins for HDL production, you must not fall into the trap and think statin = cholesterol treatment and hence does everything that is required for cholesterol control cause it does not

this how researchers like to sell their research. We all do it. im guilty of it too lol but its what the journals want soooooo .....

I promise you, mix some apple, carrots, celery, kale (a kind of leafy vegetable similar to spinach) and ginger together and you can make the most awesome juice.

I have never before seen the words "celery" and "awesome" used in the same sentence

I love the smell of Niacin. Who else uses it? Have you noticed the smell? Makes me think of deep heat spray. Every now and again I open the bottle and take wiff .... or am I weird?

EDIT:

dont play around too much with naicin you can get toxic effects if you take too much just because its a vitamin that doesnt mean you can do what you want with it
