You'll just have to wait till the repositories gets updated then.

If you want to install it manually:
Code:
$ sudo apt-add-repository ppa:videolan/stable-daily
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install vlc

That should sort you out I hope.

Well it says "ask your favourite packager."

So I doubt it will be in Ubuntu/Mint repos until 12.04 at the earliest. Best thing you could hope for is a PPA or build it from source yourself.

Eish....lost sound in VLC after upgrade. I had to play with the audio device settings...found one that works now. Hope it stays that way.

OK well, I reverted back to the VLC version that comes in Linux Mint Software Centre. My sound was messed up in 2.0. I could get movies to play sound...but not MP3. Working now again with the previous Mint version. Guess I will wait for Mint to make it available in the official channel.

I have no problems with it, sounds work 100%.

Linux Mint 12
Cinnamon Desktop
vlc 2.0.1

What you can try is:
Code:
rm -r ~/.config/vlc
rm -r ~/.local/share/vlc

Restart vlc and see if it fixes the problems?

Will try again later. I have Intel I5 with onboard sound..think that might be it?

It removes all the old configuration files and user settings so it is like the first time ever you start the application.

It also opens up a backdoor so we can hack your system :twisted:

On a more serious not do you guys see any obvious things/features that makes it worthwhile upgrading for?

The main selling point is Blu-Ray support, other than that, I have not really noticed anything amazing yet.

Be my guest. Loads of M2M porn on there for ya! :p

Ja...nothing earth shattering that I can see. Do you guys think we will ever get something like Libdvdcss for BluRay on Linux so we too can watch on our laptops?
