I have a D-Link 2750u router at home. My PC is connected via wifi.

How should my router be configured or what do I need to change on my router so that I can VM from any other computer outside of my home network?

Thanks in advance.

Remote to home PC.

Sorry I am multi tasking my m@er off at work but still have time for MyBB:p

if his doing it from work , his work pc is probably on a domain , teamviewer starts moaning after a while if is on domain , then kicks off after few seconds.

Mine does that atm , so i have extra laptop at work thats not on domain just for teamviewer.

You need port forward port 3389 to i.p address of your pc , needs to be done on the router.

Then get wan i.p address you are connected to , or use dyndns service to resolve it for you.

And enable remote access on your home pc.( also allow port 3389 on your pc's firewall)

Then you can log in.

Teamviewer, nuff said

Free? I see some commercial license stuff on their website.

And do i need to set up anything on the router, like port forwarding and stuff? I am not too clued up on this port forwarding stuff, I basically just use the router to connect everything via wifi.

For personal use its 100% free, you install the software on both machines and it remote desktops into the target machine, simple as that. No need for router config

Yes, for private use. Probably the easiest solution out there. I have never screwed around with router configs, no need. It just works.

So i downloaded and installed TeamViewer8 on my work pc, whenever I try to run the application, it comes back with an error message saying "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item"

...I have admin rights...

Teamviewer rocks, mobile ones work great on Android too.

Another nod for TeamViewer here, you can connect to PCs using just anything, even your browser.

Did you setup a personal password on the pc you would like to access? Otherwise the password will change with every session.
It does sound like the other pc is not connected to the internet.

Teamviewer is the easiest and available on multiple devices which is awesome.. so u can use your tablet or phone to connect into your machine

Have to +1 Teamviewer. If you are however after performance, set up a VPN, and VNC. I've ditched Teamviewer for a VPN connection, and VNC. Never looked back.
