Anyone had any luck in getting VMC connecting reliably on Windows 7? I have VMC 9.3.6 with an Option card, and I get all sorts of funnies, ranging from "searching for network" forever, to being told the SIM's not activated (it is), to connecting, but not working again after a reboot. I even did a complete Windows 7 reinstall, with no luck.

I don't know about VMC and Windows 7, but if you're just looking for a dashboard, I've heard that MDMA works in Windows 7.

Once again, apologies for plugging my own software.

I saw that, and I'll dive it a try. Do I need VMC loaded at all?

No, you just need the device drivers installed. VMC can't be running at the same time though. You can remove the drive letter assigned to the emulated CD-ROM and/or disable autorun to prevent it wanting to install every time you plug it in.

I have an Option PC Card modem - where does one find the drivers for that?

VMC, Win7 and MDMA

I have been using both my Huawei E272 and Huawei E220 successfully on Windows 7 builds 7000 and 7057 on my laptop and desktop. I made sure that I kept my firmware on both of them updated to the latest. Ginngs MDMA handles the whole situation the best on Win 7.

To prevent the VMC software from auto running at Windows start up I use Microsoft Autoruns for Windows.

I hope that this might solve any Win7 problems:)

What is Windows 7 build 7057? Though it's currently at 7000?

Hi

I've been using Win 7 and VMC 9.3.3 on an E220 with no problems whatsoever. I haven't touched the firmware on anything on the E220 since I bought it last year.I have never used any form of VMC Lite, preferring the full dashboard. By installing the full dashboard before inserting the E200, I don't have to worry about it trying to run VMC Lite.

No I'm not off-topic, I was just trying to bring across that as the Win 7 builds get's released I have been following them from the initial build 7000, released to public beta testers in January, without having a problem with VMC or HMC in combination with Ginngs's MDMA Tool as long as one sticks to the latest firmware for VMC. Maybe to clarify: My desktop pc runs with Win7 build 7000 using a Huawei E272 with the latest Vodafone firmware and dashboard(downloaded from Vodacom). My laptop runs with Win7 build 7057 using the Huawei E220 with the latest Huawei firmware and dashboard(downloaded from Huawei).

BTW, Build 7068 is due any day now:)

No, I meant I'm going off-topic (to talk about Win 7), not you :)

BTW, 7068 has been on the news servers for the last 2 days.

Install The Mobile Partner Software, it works !

Yep, I'm on Windows 7 RC now, which was released to the public on May 5th, and it still works fine with it. I believe there is also a build 7137 out by now. Nevertheless, since VMC has worked from day 1 with the first public beta release build 7000 in January, I don't think it will ever have a problem with Win7 in future.:)

BTW, a worthwhile mention might be that Ginng's MDMA tool also has no problem in the Win7 environment. It works as fine as in XP.
