Hi
I want to start to use either vmware esxi or xenserver to host a few of my servers.
I am not sure which road to go down.
My idea is to run it bare metal and make snapshots / backups of the vm’s.
I have 1 HP ML150 that I want to use. In the case that the motherboard or something packs up I want to be able to move the vm for the server and run them on a desktop till I can get the server back up. I have a corei5 with 8 GB of RAM which I can use as the backup machine.
Will I be able to move the vm from esxi to vmplayer/server and then back again?
Can the same be done with xen?
Which one will be the easiest to archive it with?
