My area does not support ADSL - according to Telkom (something to do with fibre optic lines) so I am forced to go wireless. I considered iburst, but after reading the comments about them I am to scared to go there. Now I am trying to get Vodacom 3G/HSDPA. I consulted the coverage map, and, behold, it seems that everyone around me has proper coverage except my house!!
Onto the Vodacom website I went and toiled my way through a jungle of adverts and other geeky stuff - but I could not find any link to anyone who could help me with my problem. All I want is for someone to come out to my house (like iburst did, within 2hours of my call to them) and to measure the signal strength. I send off an email to customer care, but they ignored me (although I received an authomated read-response). I finally called 082 155 - and could get no further that a telelady who logged my call and promised to "escalate" it.
Can the Vodacom3G person please tell me how can I confirm my signal strength? I do not want to be caught up in a 24 month contract and then realise that I'm screwed.
PS. Vodacom, it is more diffucult to speak to you than to get hold of the Dept of Internal Affairs...
