Vodacom 3G Modem - Topping Up - Why So Complicated???

I recently bought a Vodacom 3G modem and prepaid SIM card for a family member. They are not particularly tech savvy, so I want to keep things simple for them. I preloaded the SIM card with a 1.2 GB data bundle, but had to do so by buying airtime at an ATM, inserting the SIM in my phone and going through the whole *# data bundle blah.

According to a sticky thread in this forum, it should be possible to manage the whole airtime bundle thing through www.vodacom4me.co.za. However, Vodacom appear to currently be migrating the functionality of vodacom4me to the main www.vodacom.co.za site. Currently, I can't successfully register the relevant SIM card with either site.

That's my sad story, but what I would like to know is if there is any other way of getting "gigs" onto the relevant SIM card without all the stuffing about? I was really hoping that my family member would be able to top up by just buying a data bundle voucher from a convenient retail location. I'm really suprised at how complex such a potentially lucrative activity is for the customer. Am I missing the big picture here?
 
use MDMA - you can do the "whole *# data bundle blah." without removing the SIM

search for the mdma thread on mybroadband, i'm too lazy to search....
 
I do my topping up from my FNB online banking. Easy as pie ;)
 
I know that Standard and ABSA has prepaid purchasing option ,not sure about the other banks, but this is going to be the easiest option.
 
I know that due to popular demand our Vodashop in Eastgate had the NPPS system installed whereby they can load a data bundle for you directly by using your cell number.

Oh. I am not sure. It is not restricted to Vodashops. I think our Chatz Connect stores also have it.....but when it comes to Checkers etc till points...I really can not say. NPPS was designed to integrate with the Vodacom POS software that our stores use....so I doubt it is compatible with the other POS software out there.

As far as recharge vouchers for data bundles go...I also cant say. Not sure if that recharge system is compatible with data bundles. If it was, it would have been implemented from the get go when data bundles was released for prepaid I am sure.

Compatible with all Huawei modems and has USSD window so you can enter vouchers to recharge!

If you have Vodafone Connect software installed, make sure you fully shut it down before running Mobile Partner.

Personally I use MDMA as it has very light system requirements!
