I am a telkom survivor who recently terminated their ISDN service and switched to Vodacom 3G as the only current option for real broadband here in Kaapschehoop (near Nelspruit). Their ASDL service is only scheduled to arrive here in 2007. Currently I am profiled for "3G preferred" although there is no 3G coverage in the area yet - (I travel to Pretoria weekly and get good 3G coverage there). On purchase of the contract the Vodashop manager assured me that their would be countrywide 3G coverage by the end of the year - apparently a stated Vodacom objective. Can anyone suggest how to go about verifying this?

PM me your physical address and, if you can, a cell-id of a 2G tower. I'll pass it on for comment.

Although the 3G network is growing rapidly, it will not reach the coverage of the 2G network anytime soon.

Fat chance

According to many contacts inside Vodacom the network is not planning on expanding the service to rural areas....instead they'll be upgrading their 2.5G service to EDGE which seems more sensible.

Thanks for the info. V3G I live in the town of Kaapsehoop. There are no street addresses. The approximate location is 25.35.37 South 30.46.01 E. The Vodacom tower has cell id as "Kaapsehoop".
