Vodacom 99c deal...expired

Hi there,

Just wanted to remind everyone that the vodcaom 99c deal has expired.

I only clicked this morning that i was getting charged a lot more than 99c after my airtime ran out much quicker than expected.

And this is not meant as a thread to whine at Vodacom as they did clearly state that it was a promotion that will expire 31 July 2012.

This is more to warn anyone else who still thinks the 99c package is active.

I did check Vodacom's website for any permanent tariff plan in line with the 99c anytime rate but did not find any.
I guess its time for a move to Cell C....

It is, when you think about it, utterly ridiculous that you can phone overseas from Cell C for 99c a minute, but it now costs R1.40 a minute to phone your neighbour next-door. In theory if it was possible it would actually be cheaper to phone your neighbour via the UK! Something is seriously out of whack here....

The only advantage of staying with the Allday Per Minute plan which Vodacom ran the special on until the end of last month, is one-price SMSes at any time (50c).

With the introduction of bbm and whatsapp, smses aren't as popular as they used to be (and are definitely not cost effective anymore). Also I don’t sms as much as I call.
Interestingly I got a call from a telesales agent from MTN and he tried to offer me this “fantastic” deal where if, with MTN, you could call for 4cents per second and his main pitch was......wait for it....if you make a 5 second call you will only pay 20cents!!! (I kid you not). When I pointed out that Cell C has per second billing as well and theirs works out to 1.9cents per second he hit back with but a 5 second call with this MTN package will only cost you 20cents...I had to explain simple math to him and pointed out that a 5 second call with Cell C would cost 10cents. He didn’t seem to understand that so I kind of killed his idea by pointing out that I don’t make 5 second calls. Then he brought the whole mahala thing. He understood even less of that than I did and I was quoting from their site while chatting to the guy.
Long story short (hahaha probably too late for that) he hung up on me....I felt satisfied the rest of that day
