Vodacom and MTN are set to launch micro SIMs to ensure 3G iPad owners can connect to their networks

Hmmm, do they perhaps know something we don't? Maybe launching bundles, uncapped BW packages (almost like the Blackberry data packages)? All I know, I need a iPad at a good price, not the current imported starting price of R 7500. ;-(

The next Iphone will also be using MicroSIMs, so they are just getting ready for that as well.

I can almost guarantee that neither MTN nor Vodacom will launch with an uncapped service. The only reasons why the BlackBerries come with unlimited data are:
- Download and attachment limit - iPad / iPhone don't have something like this (there are of course ways past this)
- Limited "multimedia" apps - iPad / iPhone are full of them
- BlackBerry compression does use a bit data, especially with email. Don't think Apple implements something like this
- 1 GB softcap - other BlackBerry users subsidize the heavy users
- RIM pays partly for the data as far as I know. Don't see Apple doing this anytime soon.

What has the MicroSIM got to do with the rollout of a 4G network - its a phone requirement? Are we repeating the unecessary USIM requirement for 3G in order increase the SIM swap revenue?

Given that these 'new' sim cards are 100% the same as the current ones, only the plastic pieces surrounding the actual 'sim' is smaller, I doubt there could be great security risks they need to test. But it does sound very important ... this testing and validating the security ????
