My brother decided it would be a great idea to get a Q5. The saleslady told him that there is no more BIS for R59 pm. Is this true?

Reason Im asking is he is complaining of extremely high data usage on the phone during the evening while he is sleeping. I had a look around on the phone but cant seem to find the correct setting where apps should only update via wifi etc.

Is there some place specific I should check or is there still a R59 pm option for BIS service?

bb q5 runs bb os10 , BIS is only for older blackberrys.

New ones use normal data.

You can get BIS on 9720, 9790 or 9320 or 9900 that are currently available. Q5, q10, z10, z30 cannot have R59 bis option but I think there is bbm text for R19pm.
The option he has is to purchase a data bundle.

He currently buys data bundles but something is using huge amounts of data and I can't figure out what it is in order to stop or uninstall it.

Any suggestions?

Not sure if bb10 has an app that monitors data usage or if there is something in the settings. Your best option will be to do a Google search for a data usage tracker for bb10. Unfortunately I can't search as I'm not home and I'm using mobile data. I know I had one when I was using the OS 5, 6 and 7 Blackberries I had. Was called data monitor as far as I remember. Quite a nice app . I was using about 250mb a month and I accessed the internet frequently.

New BB 10 phones (q5, q10, z10 and z30) don't use BIS, they either use data bundles for bbm or the vodacom bb10 bundle R19 which includes 200mb and is strictly for bbm usage.

For high usage you should make sure the auto updates are off
-browser
-settings (3 dots bottom left)
-developer tools
-disk cache (turn it off)

The cheaper BIS packages like R30,not sure if Vodascum has it but other networks do.
