Vodacom breaks through 1Gbps on LTE-U

Competition needs to be on price not speed. Over 100Mbps is mostly useless for most.

Higher speeds using the same spectrum is the method to get lower pricing per GB, if you can get more bandwidth through less hardware costs go down. The other part of that is each individual doesn't need Gbit speeds, but the speed they are talking about here is the total for the tower, so that must be shared between everyone - think about having an office on LTE next to a soccer stadium during a game...
