Is there a vodacom problem atm, I'm dialling some 082 numbes and get disconnected almost instantly form both Telkom and MTN?

Maybe you're losing reception?
Happens to me when I'm in some areas, especially when heading out towards Durbanville.
Maybe try this, turn your phone off, wait a minute, turn it on again and try again.
Also depends on the person you're phoning, maybe they in a area with reception, when you call in, they lose reception and it cuts the call off.
Unless our Vodacom rep here can shed some light on other issues they might be having.
