Vodacom storm in BEE cup

A failed bid to become Vodacom's multibillion-rand black economic empowerment partner underlies the "nepotism" storm that has erupted over the head of former Vodacom chief executive Alan Knott-Craig.

haha... BEE sour grapes. We want money for nothing, and if you don't give it to us, we'll make you look bad. blackmail and corruption at its best.

Another ANC epic fail.

Still dodgy

I think AKC is too smart not to have covered his back. Nonetheless doing business with your sons company is suspicious. Not sure why this article didn't cover the other business man who appeared in the Sunday Times. His gripe was that AKC's stole his business idea.

"We do not believe it would be appropriate to publish it.

"The document was independently commissioned to identify whether there was any basis to the allegations which had been made and since no action against any individual was recommended, we see no requirement to release the report."
So being a publicly trading company with obligations to the public who hold shares in the company have, by implication ... no right to know ...

Ja right.

my n00b thoughts on this...

i wonder where the fire are at seeing everyone putting the smoke. is this all part of "punishment" for vodacom for A) not playing nice with government and bending over or B) circumventing the initial "punishment" of interconnect call charge reduction.
