Vodacom has this promotion where you can add a 1GB data bundle to your contract for R99. I see on their website that this promotion ends sometime in April. What I will like to know is if when the the promotion ends will the pricing return to normal even if you have bought the add on bundle while it was on promotion. I phoned Vodacom today but they could not confirm. If the Vodacom rep can give an answer that would be very helpful.

I will need to double check the memo...but if memory serves right..then yes...it returns to normal pricing when the promo ends. I will be able to confirm on monday.

Let me clarify:

The promo itself is available for a specific time period, in this case it'll end in April.

BUT, the price of R99 for 1GB lasts for the full 24 months. Say you buy in March 2013, the R99 price will stay till Feb 2015.

In other words, it will not go up on April for contracts already in effect.

Makes sense?

Hi Jannie,

I also have a query relating to these promo data bundles. I have a Smart 229 contract and it allows me to add on a 1GB monthly recurring bundle for a promo price of R149. The website says the promo is valid until 6 April. If I add on the monthly recurring bundle today, will the pricing return to normal after the promo date?

Hello Jannie...just to make sure...are you talking about the add on monthly bundles that we bolt onto voice contracts ... or are you talking about the Mofaya data contracts?

I'm talking about the Mofaya promos.

If the OP meant the current bolt-on promo then I was talking cr@p. Apolgies, was rushing out the house when I read the OP. Those will revert to the normal price after the promo ends.

To better explain; When you buy a promo, it's valid for the contract period. In the case of Mofaya, it's a 24-month contract so the promo prices last for the full 24 months. If you buy a bolt-on, it's a "30-day contract", so at best it'll last till 30-days after the promo ends.

To clarify;

The OP is talking about Mofaya for 1GB @ R99 - here my points about a 24-month contract keeping the R99 rate is valid, irrespective of when the promo ends.

If you have a voice contract the bolt-on is 1G @ R149 - here my points about a 30-day contract holds.

But will you still be able to cancel the add on if you dont want it anymore or are you forced to keep it for 24 months?
